Description: The AD/SR AD, Veterinary Technical Solutions Large Animal provides comprehensive leadership and strategic oversight to ensure a high level of customer service, compliance, technical leadership, mentorship and coaching for a team of professionals or veterinary staff, with a focus on Animal products sold and distributed by BIAH with BI procedures and with North American (FDA, USDA and EPA) regulatory requirements. This role provides strategic direction and oversight to ensure functional excellence of the teams through hiring, development, mentoring and retention of key talent. The incumbent serves as Subject Matter Expert, Advisor for product support, customer service, and veterinary guidance in disease management and control ensuring compliance to regulatory agencies, corporate and BIAH company regulations/procedures. AD/SR AD Duties & Responsibilities: Provides strategic direction and oversight, Leads, develops and supervises professional and/or technical staff responsible for all aspects of Performance Management including strong Development Plans, Team Goals, Core Job Expectations and Competencies of all staff members, ensuring such goals and objectives support the overall goals and milestones established annually for the BIAH business. Provides strategic direction and oversight to ensure functional excellence of the teams through hiring, development, mentoring and retention of key talent. Demonstrates and promotes Agility, Accountability and Intrapreneurship behaviors and actions in the team, and seeks ways to measure and increase team productivity and engagement. Provides Comprehensive leadership to ensure a high level of customer service, link the VeTS team with Pharmacovigilance, Sales and Marketing, legal and Commercial Operations, and oversee the development of successful working relationships between the various functions and the VeTS DVM & Specialist team. Provides coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning/preparation and active development plans of direct reports. Acts as public relations contact in coordination with BI HR and PR as it relates to adverse events, quality issues and medical or technical aspects of BIAH products. Works with, provides strategic input, supports and serves as a key link with internal and external Key Stakeholders, as needed, including but not limited to VeTS, Commercial Operations, Legal, Global PV, Bio RA, Pharm RA, International RA, OPUs, QA/QC, Business Units etc. Represents VeTS group and actively participates in meetings with corporate partners, s in product launch teams as needed. Works on any proposed projects suggested & supported by R&D or the business. Drives VeTS participation at National and Regional Sales meetings, major conferences and as needed in relevant launch teams. Coordinates and lectures to ensure training of all relevant departments related to PV technical SOPs or safety aspects of BIAH products (PV & VeTS, PSV, VMA, TMs etc.…) and for any relevant special project. Contributes to the knowledge base of the department and acts as a key resource for colleagues. Provides customers information as requested in the following areas: Proper product use, extra-label use, technical information, literature requests, adverse events and unexpected responses to treatment, perceived lack of efficacy and product or packaging defects. Consults with BIAH customers regarding product inquiries, complaints, and suspected adverse events as needed and provides information as requested. Provides strategic direction and oversight to ensures the quality of the data collection is in line with department guidelines and that all PV tasks are handled within established timelines. Participates in the Risk/Benefit activities and discussions as needed. Provides state of the art clinical veterinary medical and support in compliance with all regulations and applicable agency standards as a primary provider and coach and mentor to other DVM’s and the Specialists on their team. Provides communication (telephone, email etc...) to veterinarians, veterinary support staff, BIAH employees, animal owners and producers about product inquiries, quality complaints, and suspected adverse events that may arise by usage of or experience with BIAH products. Supports complaint investigations by asking appropriate questions. Ensures all communications will be recorded in the BIAH Pharmacovigilance (PV) Database in compliance with BIAH corporate, Veterinary Technical Solutions (VeTS), PV SOPs, and relevant cGMPs. Provides strategic direction, oversight and leads the day-to-day VeTS program to ensure compliance with corporate procedures and with US and other global government regulations in the event of an audit/inspection. Main point of contact for VeTS interaction with PV, Regulatory, Legal, R&D to gain alignment, discuss issues and trends, identify risks and opportunities. Stays current with BIAH SOPs and Policies, current regulations and with medical and technical knowledge relevant to BIAH products. Leads technical training and monitors the technical expertise of other personnel in the department. Provides strategic direction and oversight and monitors the overall compliance, quality, and customer service excellence provided by the VeTS team and for ensuring the appropriate review and approval of customer credits and reimbursements. Provides strategic direction and oversight to the VeTS DVM customer consultation process and works to ensure a high level of regulatory compliance, quality, ethics and customer satisfaction. Partners with the Field Professional Services Veterinarians (PSV), Sales, Marketing, PR, PV, RA and QA as well as other BIAH personnel to ensure all regulatory/compliance/customer service issues are expeditiously addressed and to ensure strict adherence to all principles of good product stewardship to maximize product sales. Ensures compliance with all global reporting requirements for US reports. Leads/Supports PV preparation for their area of expertise during audits and inspections. Ensures administration and maintenance of the WIKI and maintains product/disease technical libraries. Ensures timely transfer of knowledge from project teams and clinical development to VeTS Team & Stakeholders. Coordinates and participates in the training initiatives of all relevant departments related to technical or safety aspects of BIAH products (PV & VeTS, PSV, VMA, TMs etc.). Liaises with Veterinarians and Researchers (BCD, PCD etc.…) to provide relevant individuals and groups access to the technical libraries (Develops Center of Technical Knowledge). Ensures VeTS team is appropriately trained, and ongoing qualifications are maintained as per regulatory requirements and relevant SOPs. Forms strategic alliances with the BIAH Sales and Marketing, Customer Excellence and VMA departments and stays current with the respective strategies and programs. Determines level of VeTS support needed to ensure ongoing customer support as well as staffing level needed to meet the expectation of the business while ensuring regulatory compliance. Receives regular and timely update from technical Managers and PSV's on ongoing and projected field activities and provides training on AE reporting requirements & Processes. Leads the drafting, review and implementation of department SOP's and Related Documents, within an environment of continuous improvement. Responsible for the identification and if applicable, development of new processes or procedures to advance the Operational Excellence of the department. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts to maintain BIAH's excellent reputation within the animal health community and internally. Ability to handle complex independent projects. Identifies and Leads Expert and innovative departmental solutions and projects and represents department cross functionally. May assume additional responsibilities delegated by the HoPV & VeTS NA as assigned. AD Requirements: Veterinary Degree (MSc, MPH or MBA Preferred) DVM/VMD, must be from AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine with eight (8) years of veterinary practice experience required including five (5) years within a regulated Animal Health industry environment. Must have a strong understanding of operating a pharmacovigilance program in a call center/post-market surveillance environment. Must have Extensive Knowledge working with Microsoft Office products (MS Office Suite Programs; statistical analysis programs, and database systems. Must have Exceptional oral and written communication skills and an ability to operate effectively in a team environment. Must demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and an understanding pharmacovigilance, of applicable regulatory requirements and understanding of basic veterinary practice issues and procedures. Must have experience providing excellent customer service in a Animal Health or Pharmaceutical regulatory compliance environment. Respectful interactions with individuals with diverse views or backgrounds. Must have a demonstrated leadership ability leading and coordinating teams across multiple geographical locations, developing leadership talents in direct reports and motivating teams that are successful in executing various clinical competencies. Ability to work in a matrix environment and to value the importance of teamwork. Ability to effectively manage conflict and to balance business needs with user friendliness. Must have a track record of industry leading customer service within a regulated environment, excellent knowledge of applicable GMPs, pharmacovigilance regulations and complaint handling Compliance requirements. SR AD Requirements: Veterinary Degree (MSc, MPH or MBA Preferred) DVM/VMD and must be from AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine with ten (10) years relevant Veterinary Practice/Animal Health experience including at least five (5) years within a regulatory call center environment desired, and at least three (3) years’ experience leading leaders.
