The US Logistics Project Manager is responsible for driving towards an optimized “fit for purpose” logistics organization within the US. This includes overseeing of the movement of goods within the US between manufacturing sites and distribution centers, developing and owning continuous improvement projects, understanding market and industry trends to position Elanco for success, and working effectively within Elanco’s tools and systems to drive visibility and performance improvement. Ideal candidates will have a broad interest and experience across logistics and supply chain, project management, animal health, pharmaceuticals, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement aligned distribution strategy in the US for all shipments between manufacturing sites and US distribution centers; provide support on all inbound international shipments to manufacturing sites and between US and Canada as requested
- Identify trends in logistics and share knowledge through appropriate forums, developing business cases for continuous improvement both within the region and globally
- Lead the implementation of approved projects within the US and validate business results post-implementation
- Partner with key stakeholders on freight payment management systems to drive efficiency and reduce invoice discrepancies
- Partner with US Operations & Customer Service and Procurement to develop, populate and drive action from performance standards for all 3PL partners; pivotal contributor to QBRs and in identifying, growing and improving 3PLs
- Participate in new product launch planning including identifying appropriate lanes and methods of travel, ensuring appropriate storage capacity, and providing guidance on product safety requirements
- Own execution of logistics deviations and resolutions for US Supply Chain
- Liaison with Global Trade Compliance to ensure compliance with all import/export regulations and partner with Global Logistics to investigate potential logistics strategies for maximizing value to Elanco from product duties and tariffs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent by experience, ideally in a business-related field
- Experience in project management across matrixed organizations; proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and business cases
- Knowledge of SAP and interfaces with SAP or other systems, preferably S4 Hanna
- Knowledge of supply chain tools and business processes; experience with manufacturing, planning and supply chain operations
- Pharmaceutical industry experience and familiarity with GMP, GDP and regulatory requirements; experience with distribution of controlled substances
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written & presentation skills)
- Experience in distribution of ambient, dangerous goods and cold chain products
Additional Preferences:
- CPIM certification, APICS certification and/or Six Sigma certification
- Demonstrated learning agility, flexibility, ability to focus and prioritize
- Able to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty
- Demonstrated strong leadership and influence skills; ability to network and build consensus across organizations and cultures
- Proven ability to manage effectively in a crisis
- Experience working globally
- Understanding of key customer markets (pet retail, farm animal, veterinary)
