Job Description

The Position

The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating or assisting in the creation and execution of Boehringer Ingelheim’s digital campaigns by bringing new thinking to the digital planning process.

This role will work closely with key stakeholders, such as the marketing team, in order to help bring all campaigns to fruition, as well as monitor and report metrics in a manner that will educate key internal stakeholders, and enable strategic decisions for future digital endeavors.

The Digital Marketing Specialist will increase customer engagement by executing and advising on websites, landing pages, applications, social media, mass email campaigns, and other digital assets.

This role is also expected to remain knowledgeable of the latest industry developments, news & opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Digital project management & strategy: Liaise with key stakeholders and project team to ensure successful execution of digital campaigns (websites & mass email campaigns) by developing robust project plans, supporting with digital strategy that align with business goals, and monitoring & reporting on ROI and KPIs. Govern technical standards of websites & digital assets (technology upgrades), accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA), and ensure campaigns are tracked linked between digital touch points (including oversight of Campaign ID tracking process).
  • Customer data management: Facilitate customer data management procedures for digital campaigns (and general consent management operations). Extract data from reports in our CRM system and/or other databases. Combine, collate, and segment data to ensure targeted digital campaigns. Own daily and weekly consent processes to ensure all databases reflect the customer’s current consent needs and preferences.
  • Web & digital analytics: Support key stakeholders with developing practical and relevant KPIs to measure digital components of campaigns, based on historical and industry benchmarks. Review outcomes of campaigns using analytics tools (e.g. Adobe Analytics, Tableau reports, CRM system reports, etc.) to develop & present outcomes, and provide recommendations for future campaigns.
  • Digital content creation and deployment: Create or coordinate the creation of social media content (e.g. designing post imagery and content), and in some cases, mass email campaigns. Maintain a strong online company voice through social media. Increase social media engagement and presence and monitor channels on a daily basis. Develop content calendars for social media & mass email campaigns and deploy on schedule.
  • Multi-channel customer experience: Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer/user experience across multiple digital channels and customer touch points. Make recommendations that ensures a strong user experience and digital journey.
  • Digital expert: Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate. Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners to provide cost effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration: Facilitate, communicate and collaborate with both internal and external resources to deliver digital solutions that are aligned with business goals and budgets.
  • Implementation of compliance requirements: Performs all company business in accordance with all regulations and Boehringer Ingelheim compliance guidelines and procedures. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business transactions in order to maintain Boehringer Ingelheim’s excellent reputation within the industry.

This position is based in the Burlington, Ontario office located at 5180 South Service Road and is flexible.

Employees in flexible roles are required to be at the office a minimum of 50% of the time each month and must report to the office when requested and required by their Manager/Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • University degree in marketing, communication, digital media or a related field
  • Proven working experience in digital marketing and communications
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Facebook advertising, etc.)
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing basic social media advertising campaigns (e.g. Facebook Ad Managers) and supporting other digital media projects (Google AdWords campaigns, programmatic & display campaigns, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
  • Solid knowledge of Photoshop, or other media/video editing software
  • Familiarity with web design and content management systems
