Job Description

Zoetis is seeking a talented scientific researcher to contribute to our efforts at the Zoetis Incubator of Northern Colorado (ZINC) at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. This individual will work as part of a team to successfully screen and functionally characterize novel protein therapeutics for the treatment of canine and feline diseases using in vitro and cell-based assays.

The successful candidate should have knowledge of and experience with mammalian cell-based enzymatic assays and/or immunoassays. The candidate should have experience with cell lines and some experience with biological sample processing. Expertise in lab automation is highly desired. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. An ideal candidate should be adaptable, collaborative, meticulous, and team-oriented.

This position is for a fixed-term of 3.5 years.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assay development and validation
  • In vitro and cell-based enzymatic assays
  • Immunoassays (e.g. western blot, ELISA, Luminex)
  • Gene expression assays (e.g. qPCR, Quantigene, RNA-seq)
  • Tissue culture maintenance and manipulation
  • Data analysis and presentation
  • Commitment to teamwork
  • Excellence in data recording

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educational background: MS or BS/BA in molecular/cellular biology, immunology, biochemistry, genetics or related field
  • Hands on experience optimizing methods and reagents for cellular readouts and therapeutic characterization
  • Experience with cellular screening
  • Experience with laboratory automation is a plus
  • Experience with multiplexed assays is a plus
  • Exposure to mass spectrometry, transcriptomics, and metabolomics technologies is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize work, work efficiently, adapt to needs quickly, design experiments with supervision, and work both face-to-face and virtually
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, GraphPad Prism

Work environment: The placement of this position will be in Fort Collins, CO. The person filling this position will work primarily in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms
