Zoetis discovers, develops and manufactures diverse portfolio of animal health medicines, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and the livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support. Zoetis has the first monoclonal antibody therapy for treating atopic dermatitis in dogs. We are currently seeking to fill new positions to support our growing biopharmaceutical portfolio.
Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Analytical Sciences in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking an analytical scientist at the Sr. Associate Scientist / Scientist level. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for executing a variety of analytical methodologies necessary for characterization and release of biopharmaceutical products. Self-motivation, excellent problem-solving skills, and an ability to work independently and within a group are essential.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design and conduct laboratory experiments including analytical method development, validation and transfer. Primary techniques are HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (cIEF, CE-SDS), mass spectrometry and spectrophotometric assays
- Perform analytical methods necessary for the characterization and release of process and formulation samples
- Document and communicate results in laboratory notebooks, technical reports, and oral presentations.
- Collaborate with other scientists in a variety of technical disciplines including within Analytical Sciences, Formulation Development, Process Development, Biological Research, Clinical, Regulatory, Project Management, Quality Control and Manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS / MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or other related discipline, with at least 3-5 years of industry experience, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry,
- Motivated self-starter with strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills,
- Biopharmaceutical development experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing, validating and transferring biopharmaceutical analytical methods, including HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (cIEF, CE-SDS), spectroscopy, glycoprotein analysis, and mass spectrometry
- Basic understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including cell culture, purification, and formulation
- Skills and experience in experimental design, technical problem solving and continuous improvement; deepens technical knowledge through exposure and continuous learning
- Ability to effectively plan and follow through on complex projects
