The ED (Executive Director), Transactions, BD&L (Business Development & Licensing) Animal Health leads the Global Transaction team within the Business Development and Licensing Team Animal Health and coordinate team`s activities, being accountable for development, negotiation and conclusion of contractual arrangements for access to external product opportunities, franchises or legal entities to complement the internal product pipeline and product portfolio supporting the BIAH Strategy. The global transactions team leader is a key interface with leaders in Legal, Patents, Strategic Partnering (SP), Alliance & Portfolio Management, Merger & Acquisition, AH Innovation Division, GSM, GCB, Operations, and Finance. Duties & Responsibilities: As a member of the BD&L AH leadership team, works in close relationship with Head of BD&L and BD&L leadership team to create overall BD strategy aligned with AH Innovation Division goals. Based on the request from ordering parties (including global heads of BD&L AH, BD&L HP and AH Innovation division, as well as local project leaders), allocates Transaction support according to engagement complexity, regional location of partner, required skill sets and workload balance. Agreement execution: Monitors and drives agreement execution on a Global level. Responds to and resolves issues that may stall agreement execution. Escalates to head of BD&L unresolved issues which require senior management decision. Investment Approval Process: In alignment with BI AH's strategic needs, proposes to the appropriate decision committee "fit for purpose" financial deal structures that i) ensures motivation towards achievement of defined aims, ii) maximizes BI's financial resources and iii) enables BIAH's ability to attract and execute productive and innovative partnerships. Strong Relationships: Fosters strong relationships with Leaders of business partner functions, including compliance, legal, patents, AH Innovation Division, Merger and acquisition, Strategic Partner, and Alliance&Portfolio Management. Coordinates and partners with business partners to address miscellaneous issues that may arise during the contract negotiation process or in the management of alliances. Deal structure: Keeps abreast of competitor deal structures. Develops novel deal terms that are attractive to external partners and ensures BI Animal Health's access to innovation. Negotiation: Directly negotiates agreements and/or provides alliance management support according to complexity, strategic importance, capacity and necessity for discreteness. Supervises, leads and develops global transaction team: Fosters talent growth and motivation. Provides supervision and guidance where needed. Develops direct reports to execute "win-win" agreements and maintains BI's image as a partner of choice. Ensures appropriate alignment and support to line function (head of BD&L AH) e.g.: Provides regular updates and discussion on status quo of Transaction activities to ensure alignment and appropriate resource allocation, according to BI AH's needs and priorities. Responsible for appropriate escalation of topics when resolution needed. Provides support on ad hoc projects on a need basis. Responsible for local cost center. Requirements: Advanced degree in life sciences (MS, PhD, DVM). 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. 3-5 years' experience in negotiations of IP-related commercial arrangements At least 3 years of strong leadership capabilities. Fluency in English (spoken & written). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strategic thinking and ability to prepare strategic plans. Good team worker with an ability to work with multi-disciplinary and international teams. Networking capabilities. Sound knowledge of Function-specific objectives and assessments (i.e., Finance, Patents, Operations, RA, Marketing, etc.) Self-confidence. Highly professional appearance and attitude. International experience. Excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing environment. Excellent presentation skills with the ability to convey complex topics. Creativity in problem solving. High cultural sensitivity. High level of objectivity and common sense in judging business opportunities. Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on win-win outcomes and long-term relationships. Perseverance in negotiations. Flexibility and fast reaction in response to changing situations / environment. Eligibility Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required). Must be 18 years of age or older.
