Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $228,000 and $350,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here.

The Global Medical Affairs Lead – TA is a dynamic, strategic, and experienced medical leader as the Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Lead for one of the following therapeutic areas (TA): Cardiovascular Renal Metabolic (CRM); Central Nervous System (CNS), Retinopathies and Emerging Areas (CREA), Inflammation, or Oncology. The role is positioned as a direct link between a specific TA and GMA. The primary objective of the role, in direct partnership with TAs, GMA, Regions and key countries, will be to continuously evolve how we bring medications to patients by ensuring excellence in cross-TA medical affairs skills, capabilities and deliverables (including, but not limited to medical excellence competencies and platforms, clinical practice-focused competencies and novel evidence generation approaches, Real World Evidence (RWE) design and execution, and externally-led, advanced competency building).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • As a recognized valuable strategic partner to the TA, ensures excellence in leading implementation of GMA-led cross-asset/disease/TA skills, capabilities, and deliverables in the TA.
  • Leads the interface between the TA and GMA, as single point of contact on a strategic level, in partnership with GMA LT members and the Head of GMA.
  • Leads the interface between GMA and Regions/key countries, as a strategic single point of contact for GMA, in partnership with Regional Medical Managers (RMMs), country leaders, country team members, and GMA LT members.
  • Becomes valued member of the TA leadership teams (Clinical Evidence Committee (CEC) and TA Medical Med Affairs leadership meetings), Regional leadership teams (Regional Cross-functional Managers meeting), the GMA Leadership Team, and leadership teams in key countries (as appropriate).
  • Demonstrates strategic leadership across TA and Assets through clear impact on strategic direction (e.g., Having more holistic evidence to address a broad range of stakeholder needs by launch), medical affairs plans (e.g., Integration of strategic partnerships with healthcare systems in key countries into medical affairs plans), and deliverables (e.g., Demonstrated utilization of insights provided by GMA to shape asset evidence plans and medical affairs plans).
  • Strategic partner to Head of GMA and the GMA Leadership Team (LT).

Requirements

  • Advanced degree required: Minimum MD or PhD.
  • Many years in pharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum eight (8) years in medical affairs roles/responsibilities at a global and country level.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of leadership experience; including matrix leadership.
  • Deep understanding of medical affairs with a focus on utilization of diverse data to demonstrate value, clinical adoption, scientific communication, healthcare system partnerships and early medical affairs engagement.
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of medical affairs processes, policies, and communications.
