Senior Associate / Consultant - Product Development

The Senior Associate/ Consultant - Product Development on the Animal Health R&D – Technical Development -Analytical Development team is responsible for supporting of analytical methods development for bacterial and viral veterinary vaccines. The incumbent will work closely with Senior Scientists to execute experiments and deliver experiment results and reports in a timely fashion.
This position will be located at our facility in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Work with multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams in executing R&D animal vaccine programs.
Support R&D team in the identification and development of viral/bacterial vaccine test methodologies and analytical methods.
Provide input to development of new process or protocol.
Protocol writing and methodical execution of study protocols. Document the experimental results and reports promptly and clearly with all procedural processes.
Review data, recognize and report inconsistencies, and determine cause and effect.
Communicate the findings effectively to the stakeholders.
Accurately prepare media and solution to support studies.
Perform aseptic techniques and small-scale cell culture.
Work independently with minimum supervision when required, to conduct and plan laboratory work.
Follow the vaccine regulatory guidelines
Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment.
Maintain infrastructure of laboratory and an organized, clean, and safe working environment.
Must possess strong attention to detail and commitment.
Actively support a culture of high accountability by role modeling Elanco values and behaviors.
Develop bio- and immune- assays including but not limited to viral titrations, ELISA, Western blotting, CFU.
Protein quantitation, purification, and characterization.
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (virology, immunology, molecular biology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry) with 3+ years experience or MS degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 0-1 years of experience
Experience working in a laboratory environment.
Experience with media and solution preparation.
Operation and maintenance of basic laboratory instrumentation.
Basic knowledge of bacterial and viral quantitation.
Hands on experience with immunoassay execution.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good Documentation Practices
High personal ethical and quality standards.

Experience with viral titration, ELISA, and flow cytometry assays.
SDS-Page and western blotting experiments.
Experience working with a fluorescent microscope is highly desirable.
Experience with biohazardous organisms and aseptic techniques.
Experience in developing animal health products.
Experience with analytical assay development.
Good understanding of the relevant regulations for animal health product development
