(Archived) Engineering Manager - Reagent New Product Transition
Job Description
As the New Product Transfer Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of approximately 6 process transfer engineers focused on effective and efficient transfer and set up of manufacturing processes from our R&D development teams into the Operations infrastructure. Your team is responsible for on-time transfers and interfaces with all areas of operations to ensure a smooth transition of all aspects of product launch and manufacture. You will drive efficiency through improvements and standardization efforts, and active coaching and development of team members. The ideal candidate operates with a strategic, integrated and analytical mindset. What you can expect in this role: You will review and prioritize Product development and launch schedules, build plans, and resource commitments, and planning capacity and department operations and establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. It will be your role to ensure the best use of your organizational resources in defining and planning goals, objectives, and programs to achieve the strategic plan and to achieve growth and profitability. You will develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality and ensure continuous improvement of policies, systems, and procedures. Lead and identify aspects of all new product introductions that impact current manufacturing or new product development timelines. You will balance competing objectives to meet aggressive launch timelines from R&D with complex implementation timelines in Operations You will serve as a liaison between operations, marketing, commercial, and finance organizations, fostering a highly-collaborative, cross-functional environment where your colleagues seek out your advice and guidance to resolve obstacles as they arise You will develop, grow and strengthen individuals’ capabilities and stay current with industry best practices. What you need to succeed in this role: You have a BS in a science or engineering field of study 5+ years of managing a team of scientists and/or engineers You have basic business finance literacy, including cost center management experience Project management experience is essential, formal credential or coursework is highly desired Your strong knowledge of SAP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and other technology platforms is essential You have experience synthesizing diverse product, scientific, engineering and business requirements into straightforward architectures. You have a successful track record working with cross-functional development teams. You are a continuous learner who embraces a growth mindset. You possess strong communication skills and ability to influence across groups. You have excellent analysis and data-driven decision-making skills. You will be adept in identifying and implementing process improvements and integrating Lean methodologies. The ability to communicate risk to a variety of stakeholders, recommend solutions and create alignment is imperative. You will have the skills to lead and make decisions during times of ambiguity.
