As part of the US Customer Experience team, the Director, AH Commercial Training & Development is accountable for designing and delivering a full-spectrum learning strategy encompassing product/skill training and curriculum equipping the field force to maximize selling potential. This role provides long-term strategic vision and direction to a team of senior Training & Development business partners that tailor to all species business units - each with a different go-to-market approach or multiple approaches. The incumbent constantly evaluates the rapidly dynamic marketplace and realigns learning approaches often. The Director, AH Commercial Training & Development chairs a learning council responsible for AH Training Governance comprised of Animal Health Leadership Team representatives. This role establishes governance framework adaptable to the highly complex business needs. This role will be accountable for strategic planning and implementation of world class training for products, launches and sales, business acumen, leadership & management training, systems, and skill-building. The Director, AH Commercial Training & Development is the resident adult learning expert acting as the top advisor to marketing and sales leadership while engaged in all aspects of the marketing mix. The incumbent re-imagines Training & Development in the utilization of internal and external resources and through technology. This role is the workstream lead for Training & Development related to critical product launches that requires a high-level of transformation and stakeholder management. Duties & Responsibilities: In close partnership with marketing & sales leadership, designs and delivers relevant and well-rounded commercial field training and curricula aligned to company goals and priorities across the US. Accountable to ensure all product, product launch, marketing program, sales effectiveness, leadership and management, skills and systems training related content is developed, approved, delivered and measured for targeted customers. Influences sales leadership to properly incorporate learning opportunities as part new hire training, National and Regional sales meeting training and launch related training. Responsible for content that will be created and/or delivered for either live or virtual settings utilizing a mix of synchronous or asynchronous delivery. Provides consultative thought leadership on industry trends and developments and leverage new and innovative learning technologies and approaches to continuously improve learning experiences. Continuously researches and identifies industry market trends, best practices and standards to incorporate and/or maintain quality educational based training solutions. Develops measurements and standards that thoughtfully evaluate impact and effectiveness of training. Actively engages with relevant stakeholders to drive and evolve content and develop new content in support of business needs. Appropriately challenges and influences key stakeholders (including Species VPs, Head of Sales & Marketing), customers and vendors on training approaches, and clearly communicates risks and benefits in partnered decision-making. Influences Marketing strategy implementation and coaches direct reports to also influence the approach to training & developing Field Sales personnel. Fosters ongoing relationships with external providers who execute on specific training needs. Creates new relationships with vendors to create vendor diversity and to constantly look to add new and creative solutions. Represents the needs of BI to vendors through deep understanding of the company vision, culture, and priorities. Responsible for hiring, coaching, and developing a team of senior Training & Development business partners as well as hosting sales reps for home office rotational opportunities. Creates a culture of belonging in the team, while also driving a high level of performance. Organizes Training & Development business partners to provide support in line with ever-changing business priorities. Develops a holistic framework for sales leadership development adopted across species areas. In partnership with Human Resources, manages leadership competency gaps and opportunities and develops short-term and long-term action plans executed by the Training & Development team. Influences and drives the AHLT on the approach. Accountable for developing the internal Commercial Training budget requirements and executing within that budget for all requirements. Develops a network of third-party training support resources to support in training design, development and facilitation. Engages and negotiates with vendors as needed to support training objectives. Member of the US Learning Council - a body of Training leaders across BI US who govern learning practices across all Animal Health and Human Pharma, including Human Resources. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Ten plus (10+) years of business-related experience required with experience in animal health and/or pharmaceuticals preferred. Four to six (4-6) years leadership experience required. Demonstrated experience in Curriculum Development, Adult Learning principles and instructional design. Demonstrated knowledge of the sales and marketing competencies and of the skills needed to succeed. Demonstrated knowledge of the sales force structures. Sales experience is a plus. Demonstrated high energy level, positive attitude, output driven, and team orientated. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, ability to access and influence various functional areas, and motivate groups to action through team building. Ability to influence, to drive consensus, to build credibility with senior leadership. Project management and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization. History of successful performance. Thorough understanding of the business environment. Independently manages resources, anticipates business needs, and solves complex problems with innovative solutions. Proficiency in MSOffice, Outlook and BIAH computer applications. Ability to travel - Assumes ~25% travel (including overnight travel). Eligibility Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required). Must be 18 years of age or older.
