ATTENTION:

  • Must provide own housing in Western Indiana and be at Clinton, IN site daily.
  • Must be in first or second year (Freshman or Sophomore) of undergrad program. We will also consider High School seniors who are enrolled in applicable degree for Fall of 2023.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently attending college with an identified major relevant to work at Elanco Clinton Labs (majors pertaining to Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Supply Chain, Health and Safety, Computer Science, Electronics)
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States via a J-1 visa. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for full-time employment visa status (e.g., H-1B status) beyond this employment position

The Elanco Manufacturing summer student program offers a meaningful work experience for college students residing in the Wabash Valley. The intent of this program is to offer an introductory experience similar to an internship to allow students an opportunity to learn about a manufacturing environment. It provides students the unique opportunity to work in the manufacturing areas of a Fortune 100 multinational company. Our summer student program helps us identify future interns and full time employees as well as provides a transparent experience for students to experience our culture and see the variety of career paths available at Elanco.

In summary, it is the total overall experience. The people, the projects, the mentoring, and the activities, provide a wonderful landscape of learning and platform for strengthening your skills.

One will have the opportunity to work with highly capable leaders and mentors who have developed the ability to provide valuable coaching and feedback.

The positions are temporary summer student positions that last for 10-12 weeks beginning in May or June 2021. Start and end dates will be managed around student class schedule and business needs. Each summer student will be assigned to a functional department with projects that are applicable to the student’s field of study in college. Small projects will be assigned that provide benefit for the department as well as a learning opportunity for the student.


Summer students will interact with other engineering, manufacturing, and science professionals, including Elanco senior management. Professional development and social events will be held throughout the summer. Presentations on work accomplished may be required.


Project opportunities are available in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Engineering: Process, Project, Automation
  • Health and Safety
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control
  • Supply Chain/Procurement/Materials Management
  • Technical Services


Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Provide a practical real-life experience for early college students to a manufacturing business in a field related to their area of study
  • Utilize the principles of Good Laboratory Practices/Good Manufacturing Practices and principles to analyze product and process improvement initiatives
  • Work within cross-functional teams in a positive fashion to implement objectives and deliver on assigned tasks
  • Work individually and with a supervisor to determine and achieve project goals driving process productivity through the implementation and execution of assigned tasks
  • Document and present project accomplishments and progress

  • Analysis/problem assessment skills
  • Communication (oral and written) skills
  • High regard for safety and quality of work
