As a Manufacturing Automation Engineer, you will perform a variety of technical and engineering activities in support of medical device production automation equipment, including machine design and assembly, machine controls (PLC/HMI), SCADA, automation software, robotics. machine vision, debug & testing, validating, troubleshooting, root cause investigation, process improvements, etc. This is an opportunity to drive results by leading cross-functional efforts across multiple product lines. What you can expect in this role You will leverage your skills and experience to patriciate in designing, assembling, testing, validating, and troubleshooting automation equipment, including process improvements and root cause investigations of existing automation. You will participate as a cross-function team member in advanced automation engineering activities in support of high-speed medical device production machinery, manufacturing testing, and other activities, including machine controls, interfaces, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), software, data tracking, and other areas. You will coordinate with engineering, production, and other areas to ensure that automation is correctly integrated into the overall manufacturing process. You will work closely with sr. engineers in planning and designing work and performing activities such as fabricating, assembling, verifying, troubleshooting, and testing in support of engineering projects. Identifies objectives, recognizes outcomes, and develops and implements solutions. You will develop and recommend procedures and methods, including preparing technical reports and documentation. You will monitor and inspects completed and in-process work. May perform tests and write test reports and instructions to ensure quality standards are met. Documents results and creates problem statements, procedures and methods. You will perform technical evaluation of events to determine root cause and recommends corrective action. Compiles and analyzes engineering data, patterns, and other information and draws conclusions. You will write technical documentation, procedures, and training material. Develop technical training programs and teach other engineers and technicians. You will exercise analytical skills and tools to draw insights from large amounts of manufacturing data. In addition to your current areas of expertise, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow your skills within a wide variety of disciplines. What you will need to succeed 2+ years of experience with automation or mechatronics. Associate's degree in technical or engineering discipline or equivalent experience. Automation or mechatronics engineering focus is preferred. Knowledgeable and experienced with designing, developing, and troubleshooting industrial automation, robotics, machine vision, and process control. Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, automation software, and sensors. Rockwell Studio5000 ControlLogix PLC ladder logic programming and Factory TalkView HMI development is a plus. Advanced automation, IIoT, and computer networking skills. Ability to use schematic drawings for fabrication, analysis and problem solving. Strong interpersonal skills with situational awareness to adapt to changing environments. Strong technical and engineering aptitude. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate to technical and non-technical personnel verbally and in writing. Advanced computer skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project) and other engineering software as required. Technical writing skills and ability to create standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and work instructions understandable by various technical levels in the organization. Strong math skills and ability to work with units of measure, whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent; and draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Display quality orientation and attention to detail. Quick learner with the desire and ability to learn and grasp new technology, equipment, and skills. Ability to write clear and concise technical reports. Have flexibility with requirements and system changes. Continuous learner who embraces a growth mindset. Industrial robots and machine vision experience is preferred.
