The Senior Director HRBP is accountable for ensuring that the Manufacturing and Quality (M&Q) business they support has the organizational capabilities, leadership and talent needed to drive an engaged and motivated team. This position has HR leadership responsibility for our Fort Dodge, Iowa (~400 employees) and Winslow, Maine (~100 employees) manufacturing sites and is a key member of the site leadership team. In this role you will provide strategic and operational advice, consultation, and coaching to site leadership on critical organization and people-related initiatives.

Along with playing a critical role working with the manufacturing sites, you will build strong partnerships with the HR centers of expertise (COE), to include compensation & benefits, talent acquisition, leadership development, HR operations and the Elanco Solutions Center (ESC) HR administration team. You will be a member of the HR M&Q leadership team which owns the talent strategy for our ~3500 employees world-wide. These partnerships are important to ensure that the HR services, policies, programs, and plans best serve the needs of the business that we support.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide leadership and development for two HR Associates to deliver on our talent strategy

  • Develop and manage interpersonal relationships to influence decisions of senior leaders within the company

  • Partner with site management to implement HR policies that support the company’s strategic vision, business plan and corporate goals

  • Partner with union leadership to ensure we meet the business priorities and objectives of the site

  • Lead comprehensive strategies on all aspects of the HR function including but not limited to performance management, employee relations, training and development, retention, compensation, benefits, talent acquisition and compliance

  • Build on Elanco’s culture while developing and implementing structure and programs to drive cross-collaboration, communication, and productivity

  • Establish a workforce strategy utilizing trends that could affect organizational objectives and operational resources

  • Develop and use people metrics to inform and drive desired outcomes

  • Enable site leadership to recruit, develop and retain talent to meet leadership and technical capabilities needed for the site and the broader Elanco organization

  • Enable leaders to be efficient in the use of the HR operating model i.e. HR Shared Services, COE and HRBP support

  • Steward core HR Processes and lead and own the HR agenda for the site

  • Advise and influence site leaders to ensure that total rewards and recognition plans and programs (monetary and non-monetary) drive critical business performance

  • Influence business decisions that consider the needs and priorities of the company, management, and employee

  • Align and communicate with the functional M&Q HR Senior Leader & Site Head on major decisions that impact employees

  • Partner and collaborate with other site manufacturing leaders to ensure best practice sharing and alignment with our M&Q talent strategy

  • Partner with HR COEs and HR Services to continuously improve HR delivery

  • Embrace HR change and transformation

Requirements and Skills

  • A BS degree in HR, business, or a related field

  • Minimum 10 years of human resource experience with experience providing HR leadership in a union manufacturing site/regulated environment

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills; demonstrated ability to effectively partner and inspire leadership and employees

  • Ability to translate strategy to action by diagnosing business problems and creating and implementing solutions

  • Ability to manage complex HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, organizational changes

  • Knowledge of employment-related regulations

  • Robust organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Solid experience with human resources information systems

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional details:

  • Position is in Fort Dodge, Iowa with travel to Winslow, Maine approximately one time a month or based on the business needs

  • Position has supervisory responsibility for two HR Associates

  • Position reports to the Executive Director of HR, Global Manufacturing and Quality
