Job Description

As the Operations Finance Manager supporting North America Manufacturing and Service, you will play a key role in providing decision support and supporting financial activities for our manufacturing facilities in Westbrook, Maine and Roswell, Georgia. You will be the financial business partner to the Roswell Site Director and will be an active member of the cross-functional plant leadership team. You will also be leading a team of 3 Financial Analysts based in Westbrook, Maine and will be responsible for providing effective financial analysis and enhancing operational insights to support business partners. Effective process management is a key component of the role as you will oversee monthly close and financial planning activities with insightful financial analysis and ensure accuracy of financial deliverables under tight deadlines. What Can You Expect? In this role, you will be a member of a broader Operations Finance team working within a fast-paced, matrix organization supporting strong volume growth. You will support your team as an engaged leader who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach while providing thought leadership, prioritizing employee development, identifying process improvement opportunities and ensuring a sound controls environment. To effectively support the organization, weekly on-site presence in Westbrook is required. Travel to Roswell, Georgia would be expected 1-2 times per quarter but frequency may vary dependent upon business needs. What You Will Be Doing: You will serve as an active member of the Roswell Site management team and partner cross-functionally to advance the Operations strategy and achieve desired financial results. You will act as an effective leader by developing strong relationships with your employees while overseeing deliverables and reviewing for accuracy, proactively guiding the team through financial processes and supporting employee development. You will provide financial leadership including in the areas of cost management, establishing accurate product costs and measuring actual cost of production, analyzing variances, inventory valuation and control and identifying and mitigating risks to operating plan. You will provide decision support through performing and overseeing financial modeling and analysis. This requires collaborating with multiple areas of the organization to complete Investment ROIs, Make vs. Buys, Cost Reduction Initiatives, and developing New Product cost estimates. You will ensure consistent processes and financial reporting across Westbrook and Roswell sites. You will coordinate the monthly financial close process for your team to ensure the reliability and integrity of financial information. This includes reviewing journal entries, identifying and performing ad hoc financial analysis for accuracy and insights into monthly results, and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations. You will work with information systems and processes to ensure accurate recording of financial results and perform information retrieval and analysis. You will provide timely, accurate and insightful management reporting to highlight underlying operational trends and monitor financial performance relative to expectations. You will work collaboratively to develop budgets, forecasts and long-range financial plans based on sound assumptions, analyses, judgment, and alignment with line of business commercial and financial goals. You will support strong controls environment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and internal and external audit requirements, while modeling the IDEXX Purpose and Guiding Principles. You will perform special projects and other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Finance or Accounting CPA, CMA or MBA preferred Experience: Typically 5-7+ years' Supervisory/Managerial experience, with in-depth experience in the areas managed. Proven leadership skills. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Manufacturing Controller experience in a standard cost environment highly preferred ERP system experience required. SAP experience preferred What You Need to Succeed: Proven ability as a lead Finance business partner with a desire to learn the business. Works collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure alignment in order to achieve business and financial results. Strong financial, analytical and technical accounting skills with the ability to provide effective financial analysis and insight of implications of operational trends. Strong process management skills to effectively and efficiently guide teams through complicated financial planning processes, anticipate and address schedule challenges, and complete deliverables under tight deadlines. Ability to effectively manage and develop financial analysts while supporting positive employee engagement. Strong Excel skills with the ability to develop well organized and insightful financial models with clear summaries of key information for Senior Management. Effective verbal and written communications, including the ability to communicate and present to Senior Management. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced growth environment and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs as necessary. Ability to see big picture while supporting management of key financial and operational metrics. Continuous improvement mindset to ensure processes are efficient and that financial deliverables remain effective and efficient. Strong business acumen and sound judgment.
