Job Description

The Head of Diagnostics Marketing Operations serves as a strategic consultant to the Head of Marketing. He/She is the data-driven consultant to the Head of Marketing, facilitating the establishment of marketing strategy and ensuring alignment of business objectives and operations. Responsibilities include marketing-related strategy and planning, marketing team talent planning and readiness, process and technology, and measurement and reporting. This leader also will supervise a team of 2 (potentially 3) colleagues.

The Head of Diagnostics Marketing Operations is a key member of the US Diagnostics Leadership Team and US Diagnostics Marketing Leadership Team and is a proactive champion for Marketing within US Diagnostics and Zoetis. The colleague works directly with the Diagnostics LT, Diagnostics Marketing LT, broader Marketing, Sales LT, VPS—across Diagnostics and Petcare—Global Diagnostics, Global Commercial Development (GCD), Reference Lab Operations, Major Accounts, Channel Partners (Retail, Distribution), and other Zoetis functions to ensure alignment and collaboration. As a leader in the organization, he/she will model Zoetis core beliefs and communicates the importance of conducting business in a manner consistent with Zoetis values and behaviors.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning / Talent Planning & Readiness

  • Provides consultation and thought partnership to the Head of Marketing and the Marketing LT on strategy and operations leveraging data and insights
  • Orchestrates the annual operating and tactical plan processes (e.g. calendar, templates, training, meetings, actions) ensuring alignment with the Diagnostics Business Unit strategy and guidance from Leadership
  • Partners with the Marketing LT, Human Resources, and Learning and Development to assess, build and execute a marketing training plan that advances the team’s knowledge, skills and competencies
  • Participates/leads strategic projects for Marketing as required (NGSE)

Process and Technology

  • Gathers and disseminates internal and external marketing best practices
  • Engineers workflows, agile marketing, and project management and governance to ensure Marketing is aligned and moves quickly to achieve outcomes
  • Improves/introduces marketing processes and technology that increase efficiency and effectiveness and delivers effective change management and communications for implementation
  • Manages calendar and coordinates marketing activities and deliverables (e.g. meetings, communications, financial and business reporting)

Measurement and Reporting

  • Designs metrics architecture and meaningful reporting by selecting and organizing metrics to deliver visibility and insight into marketing performance and business value
  • Ensures that marketing measurement drives performance review of key brands, services, programs, and campaigns
  • Establishes and manages cadence for reporting that aligns with business needs and marketing calendar

Alignment and Collaboration

  • Actively liaises between Sales and Marketing
    • Works directly with the Sales LT to gather and share insights and feedback, ensure alignment, and develop and execute initiatives
    • Marketing point of contact for Sales meetings (POAs, NSMs, etc.)
    • Leads establishing tools and standards for communications to Sales (Marketing Brief, First Alert, etc.)
  • Actively liaises between Global Diagnostics, Global Commercial Development (GCD), Reference Lab Operations, and more and Marketing
  • Actively liaises between VPS and Marketing
  • Actively liaises between Petcare—including Marketing, Sales, Major Accounts, Channel (Distribution, Retail)—and Diagnostics

Leading People

  • Assesses and coaches individual and team performance to exceed business goals
  • Actively coaches direct reports to optimize their performance and develop their capabilities for advancement and future opportunities
  • Defines and provides ongoing developmental opportunities for direct reports
  • Fosters an environment where coaching and feedback is open, ongoing, and consistent
  • Leverages talent and resources across the Marketing team and across Business Units
  • Maintains and continues to bring new talent into the Marketing organization

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS Marketing or business discipline, MBA or equivalent preferred
  • 10+ years of marketing experience, Diagnostic marketing and/or animal health marketing experience preferred
  • Mastery of strategic marketing, brand management, and marketing/finance principles

Technical Skills

  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, process, and project management skills
  • Strong communications and team-building skills across company functions
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and coach
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Experience collaborating with and influencing executive management
  • Strong presentation/facilitation skills with large and small audiences
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organizational acumen and working in a matrix organization
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ability to learn Zoetis systems)
  • Ability to travel internal and external meetings, conventions, tradeshows, and customer interactions (>20%)
