The person in this role will focus to support the Executive Director (ED), Compensation & Global Mobility Services in managing compensation for Senior Executives, including the plan design for new programs, plan administration for established programs, external vendor management, communication to plan participants and set up of all internal interfaces for example to payroll and Finance. The role will also support a client group with all facets such as job analysis & evaluations, annual salary review and bonus planning process.

In addition, the role will manage creation of US compensation guidelines, designing programs across the US, establishing governance and consistent application across all businesses. Partner with the ED and AD, Comp and Process Management on SEP Payout, SEP grant distribution, SMP nomination & SMP Payout.

This role can be based out of our Ridgefield, CT or Duluth, Ga location and has a flexible hybrid onsite work schedule 2-3 days per week dependent upon business needs.

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $120,000 to $205,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here.

Duties & Responsibilities

-The primary focus of this role is to support the ED, Compensation & Global Mobility Services in managing compensation for Senior Executives, including the plan design for new programs, plan administration for established programs, external vendor management, communication to plan participants and set up of all internal interfaces for example to payroll and Finance.

-Lead senior executive process in compliance with Corporate Governance model. In collaboration with HR Business Partners and Line managers prepare competitive compensation packages for candidates for compensation cycle and off-cycle salary adjustments, hiring packages, promotions, severance and retirement packages for senior executives.

-Partner with HR Business Partners on all compensation related questions for senior executive roles i.e.: market positioning, determination of sign-on and retention bonus payments, evaluation of LTI entitlements for new hires.

-Partner with the AD, Executive Compensation and Process Management and the ED in management of various senior executive annual processes (i.e.: LTCP, SMP, SEP, etc.). Independently perform audits and reconcile plan reports and databases, review and complete transfer reports by referencing information in the appropriate files. Manage allocation and payout process for SMP and SEP. Provide provision and outlook information to Finance as necessary quarterly or semi-annually. Escalate concerns, as appropriate to the Executive Director.

-Manage salary survey process for Boehringer U.S. executive population incl. accurate matching, timely data submission, analysis of survey results and communication to Line Management and HR Business Partners. Exchange of salary survey results and guidance with Corporate HR as part of the compensation planning cycle. Manage annual Compensation Planning and VPR Planning process for defined group of senior executive positions in collaboration with Corporate HR, HR Business Partners.

-Provide guidance on the end-to-end process incl approval process according to Boehringer's governance model, timelines, tools etc. to HR Business Partners. Prepare compensation analysis for senior executives.

-With oversight from ED, manage compensation projects and topics as assigned in collaboration with external consultants, HR Business Partners, global/corporate teams. Projects include review of executive compensation programs, system enhancements, job profile documentation, process harmonization and alignment with Corporate processes, review of compensation guidelines and compensation communication, governance, equity compensation, COE program design and administration.

-In collaboration with Global Project team, establish long-term compensation plan for Senior Management level in the U.S. which includes Implementation and set up of all interfaces to payroll, Finance, TA as well as IT support.

-Management of plan roll-out, administration, communication to plan participants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Must possess a strong business and / or financial background and strong analytical skills. Requires a minimum of 6 – 8+ years progressive compensation experience with a minimum of 4 years in executive compensation and program design, as well as overall HR experience and comprehensive understanding of compensation practices, programs and plans.
  • 6-8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong HRIS knowledge, with SAP, SF and any other HRIT system.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with demonstrated skills to define, scope and analyze complex, cross-functional problems and work in partnership with operational owners and project leaders to develop and execute all facets of project work.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relating to compensation.
  • Requires excellent knowledge of executive compensation and benefit programs, legal requirements, job analysis & evaluation methodologies (Mercer IPE and HAY) and grading programs, Microsoft Excel (also PowerPoint, Word and Office), SAP / HRIS knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal / written)in a direct, concise manner, ability to interact with professionals at all levels, strong influencing ability.
  • Excellent project management skills, preferrable internal compensation project management experience.
