Position Description:

This position is part of the global Elanco Manufacturing finance team and supports a range of financial activities for the Elanco Manufacturing organization. This position has responsibility for planning (Business Plan and Strategic Plan), forecasting, reporting, and project work for M&Q, and includes the following key responsibilities:

Supervise M&Q Finance team, providing coaching and support for all aspects of planning, forecasting, and actual results reporting Serve as the key financial contact for the Executive Vice President, M&Q Work on project activities as dictated by business partner needs Oversee a wide range of financial controls within M&Q Finance Oversee Capital & Inventory Steering processes

The role has significant upward influence / exposure opportunities with the Executive Vice President, M&Q and offers the opportunity to help shape operational decisions for the business.

Key Objectives / Deliverables:

Supervise M&Q Finance team:

  • Direct supervisor for the Elanco M&Q Finance Lead Team including providing coaching, talent management and support for planning, forecasting, and actual results reporting.

    • Coordinates planning and forecasting activities with respective sites including Strategic Plans and Business Plans.

    • Plays strategic role with the manufacturing sites – understands business situations / opportunities and influences site business direction. Maintains direct contact with main site heads and other lead team members as applicable to ensure strong communication. This position helps to provide the “voice of the business” back to corporate finance.

    • Consults with Regional CFOs, ensures appropriate alignment between key stakeholders for Strategic Plan / Business Plan, and advises on ways to improve margins at a regional / affiliate level.

    • Challenges the status quo and actively drives changes where needed

Serve as the key financial contact for the Executive Vice President, M&Q

  • Understands and represents financial forecasts, plans, and actual results, including the broader income statement view of Variances and Product Costs.

  • Directly supports the Executive Vice President, M&Q, with significant exposure and influence opportunities. The Executive Director will engage the Executive VP in business dialogue and will provide financial analysis / insight to them.

  • Educate Lead team members in financial topics

  • The position will be a member of the M&Q and Controllership Lead Teams.

Project Activity:

  • Projects may include product / company acquisitions, supply contract negotiations, manufacturing site selection for new / existing products, and other business development activity among others. Projects typically involve understanding the business context, data validation, and building business recommendations.

  • Executive Director will work with cross-functional teams (e.g., Manufacturing, Finance, Regulatory, IT, etc.) to evaluate strategic initiatives and provide direction to senior Elanco and Corporate management.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Related Field

  • MBA or relevant business experience preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in financial role with strong track record in providing business support or controllership to business partners (preferably experience in manufacturing site)

  • Understanding of Manufacturing & Quality processes

  • Strong communication skills, maturity, and professionalism necessary for interaction with a variety of audiences, including senior leadership

  • Ability to assimilate information, analyze / synthesize key findings, develop action plans, and drive effective implementation with a bias for action

  • Strategic thinking, learning agility, analytical skills, and ability to perform complex analysis

  • Manages ambiguity and hands on mentality

  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with cross-functional teams including Operations, R&D, Procurement, Finance, and Sales / Marketing

Travel Percentage: ~15% (US & OUS)
