Position Summary

The Retail Business Intelligence Analyst provides insights to assess the performance of and drive continuous improvements to Zoetis’ retail business. This role is responsible for data model management, defining and analyzing performance metrics, building reports, running experiments, and model development.

Position Responsibilities

Develop and maintain key retail reports to inform and guide retail decision making, including:

  • Create, automate, and manage performance measurement tools for the Zoetis retail team
  • Uncover and prioritize high ROI investment and savings opportunities using a combination of internal and 3rd party data sources
  • Support the design, post-hoc analysis and continuous improvement of promotional campaigns and other marketing activities
  • Design, develop, and maintain KPIs/metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions and assist with demand forecasting
  • Provide comprehensive responses to ad hoc managerial requests to obtain or explain data-related inquiries
  • Synthesize complex data sets into summary presentation format suitable for non-technical audiences
  • Work with the business analytics team and IT to develop detailed data mapping and end-to-end process flows, when needed and to implement best practices for data integrity, data quality, and exception handling processes

Education and Experience

  • Strong analytical mind and in-depth understanding of key business drivers
  • Agility, adaptability and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English required, other languages a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, mathematics/statistics, economics, engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in statistical modelling or creating analytical frameworks with a focus on retail or eCommerce
  • Understanding of financial metrics, P&L construction, pricing, ROI and marketing/promotional evaluations using data
  • High proficiency with Excel and Tableau (or similar visualization tools)
  • Experience with SQL and understanding of database architecture
  • Preferred experience with cloud-based data environments such as Azure/Databricks

Technical Skills

Required

  • Working knowledge of key retail performance fundamentals such as path to purchase, SEO, traffic and conversion, price sensitivity/elasticity
  • Understanding of retail pricing models and value drivers
  • Experience with setting, monitoring and enforcing MAP and MSRP policies
  • Experience and facility with strategic pricing and consumer behavior concepts
  • Significant financial acumen, including but not limited to understanding revenue and margin drivers for the business, customer lifetime value, and pricing strategy
  • Experience with technology and tools to simplify complex proposals and move from data collection to information management to decision making/ insights, quickly
  • Ability to absorb retail growth and investment strategies and translate these strategies into actions and decision making
  • Understanding for how to develop, socialize, implement and evolve processes for deal approvals/ stakeholder buy-in
  • Strategic problem-solving and ability to drive creative solutions in a complex environment
  • Ability to build close working relationships and drive data-driven recommendations and decisions with internal teams (e.g., marketing, finance)
  • Analytical background; able to understand and manage complex analytics
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to simultaneously manage and pivot between multiple projects, pilots and tests
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Preferred

  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Tableau
  • Understanding of SQL (or similar programming language)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of animal health and /or agri-marketing
  • Proficiency in analysis packages (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab), or programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, Ruby)
  • Experience with cloud-based data environments such as Azure/Databricks
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following fields: machine learning, data visualization, statistical modeling, or data mining
