The Clinical Development Sciences (CDS) laboratory supports ongoing clinical trials by planning, organizing, and conducting laboratory experiments using analytical methods in the processing of clinical samples. The CDS-Lab scientist thoroughly documents and prepares data for statistical analysis to support scientific protocols and procedures. In addition, this position may be involved with assay validation and generation of associated documentation to support studies at the level of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Functions, Duties, Tasks:

  • Assay design and validation

  • Cell culture and aseptic technique

  • Viral/ Bacterial Titrations

  • Viral/ Bacterial Re-Isolations

  • Viral/Bacterial Stock Propagation

  • Serological Assays (agglutination assays, serum neutralization)

  • PCR, RT-PCR, Q-PCR

  • Immunofluorescences Assay

  • Growth Kinetics Studies

  • ELISA

  • Perform routine calculations for dilutions and titers

  • Embryonated egg work

  • Work independently following instructions or scientific protocols and contribute to troubleshooting activities.

  • Follow procedures to ensure that GLP studies are in compliance with the appropriate GLP statutes and regulations.

  • Maintain infrastructure of laboratory and an organized, clean and safe working environment.

  • Use proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials and/or hazardous chemicals.

  • Prepare SOP’s/working procedures.

  • Perform data analysis and organization of data for use in reports, etc.

  • Collaborate with other associates and scientists to facilitate knowledge exchange.

  • Work according to external and internal guidelines (e.g. SOP’s, GxP, HSE, AW).

  • Meet agreed upon timelines for tasks, assignments, and/ or objectives.

  • Comply with quality systems and standards (e.g. no critical findings at internal or external audits).

Basic Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related scientific discipline.

  • Experience in a laboratory setting.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience with the design of analytical methods.

  • Good scientific or technical knowledge in a specific area, such as virology or bacteriology.

  • Proficient with laboratory and/or technical tools.

  • Advanced ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including conflict management.
