Job Description

The Senior R&D Process Development Engineer is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and scale up of manufacturing processes for our cutting-edge In vitro Diagnostics. The Process Development Engineer will play a crucial role in solving complex multidisciplinary problems in consumable development and reagents spotting and drying to support the company’s proprietary Molecular and Immunoassay Diagnostics process. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in engineering or science discipline and have experience in manufacturing process development. They should possess the technical precedents needed to solve complex process related problems through the use of both engineering modeling & analysis along with experimentation. The Senior Process Engineer will lead cross functional technical teams in development of new manufacturing processes and transfer them to IDEXX Operations. They will be responsible for all aspects of process develop including requirements definition, process design, verification and validation and will deliver key outputs including process maps, pFMEAs, manufacturing documents, in process test methods and specifications. What can you expect: Lead cross-functional technical teams in development of new manufacturing processes and transfer them to IDEXX Operations. Performs variety of process engineering activities for Molecular and Immunoassay Diagnostics process development. Collaborate with R&D teams and Operation to develop processes to meet product design and manufacturing requirements. Develops manufacturing processes and makes feasibility and pilot lots for new product development. Develops specifications associated with process output and determine test methods for specification compliance. Identify process scale-up and manufacturing risks and implement mitigation strategies for successful process scale-up. Recommends and justifies new equipment/technologies for improving existing process or establishing new process for solving challenges of new product development. Generates SOPs/work instructions and conducts training of personnel in the methods and techniques used. Utilizes Lean, Six Sigma and other quality and reliability improvement techniques in ongoing work and participates in related projects. What do you need to Succeed: Ph.D. 0-3 years' experience, MS with 3-5 years’ experience or BS with 5-7 years’ degree in an engineering or science discipline including Chemical, mechanical, Chemistry, biochemistry, or a related technical field. Experience with implementation of biological assay (Immunoassays or nucleic acid based) in microfluidic platforms is a plus. Strong initiative, flexibility, positive attitude, and the ability to function effectively in a highly collaborative team environment. Excellent verbal, technical writing, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate and clear documentation. Good presentation skills.
