Senior Analyst - Finance & Accounting

Work Location: Greenfield, IN (Hybrid)

This position will be part of our hybrid work environment with some days working on-site at our Greenfield, Indiana headquarters and other days working remotely.

This position will be a key contributor to the Elanco Corporate Accounting and Reporting (ECAR) team and will assist with and be responsible for many aspects within the closing process for Elanco, performing ad hoc analysis, and driving process improvement work; Closing activities include performing monthly analytical checks as part of the monthly close, participating in the preparation of the quarterly fluctuation analysis, and other tasks as dictated by the needs of the business. The process improvement work involves identifying and utilizing technological tools to automate repetitive processes and working across groups to streamline processes as appropriate. Ad hoc analysis is also expected in this role.

This position requires interaction with other ECAR team members, Financial Planning and Analysis, Shared Services Accounting, Global Treasury, Corporate Tax, Corporate Manufacturing, and external auditors.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly fluctuation analytics for consolidated balance sheet and income statement

  • Perform already existing analytical controls as part of corporate close

  • Assist in creation of new analytics for corporate accounting leaders and other groups to provide additional insight and corporate governance

  • Assist in process improvement/automation projects to accelerate close

  • Review documentation of critical consolidations processes and identify areas of improvement

  • Work with other corporate groups to align reports and reporting needs to help accelerate corporate close and reporting

  • Assist with other consolidations tasks as needed, such as journal entries and performance of corporate controls

  • Contribute to the acceleration of the Elanco corporate close

  • Troubleshoot issues with affiliate and corporate accounting personnel, and country/regional controllers and analysts

  • Additional tasks including, special project work, including changes in accounting policy and preparation of supporting information for the annual and quarterly SEC reporting for Elanco.

  • Investigate and answer questions from financial leadership throughout the close and financial reporting process

  • Prepare submission to Federal Census Bureau and BEA

Key Objectives/ Deliverables:

  • Quarterly Flux Analysis for income statement and balance sheet

  • US Census Bureau and Bureau of Economic Analysis forms

  • New and existing analytical measures relating to corporate close and financial performance

  • Participate in the integration of acquisitions into our global ERP (SAP S4 Hana)

  • Identify and pursue other opportunities for improvement

  • Preparation and review of recurring SOX deliverables

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 2 years of experience in the finance/accounting function or public accounting practice, preferably with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS technical accounting

  • CPA eligible, or already a CPA or Chartered Accountant.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience with complex accounting environments, including multi-entity consolidations, especially foreign currency activities

  • Working knowledge of accounting general ledger tools and consolidations systems, with knowledge of SAP S4/HANA and Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) module preferred.

  • Ability to learn new tools, systems, and processes quickly

  • Strong self-management skills and high learning agility

  • Proven ability to produce high-quality work

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customer focus

  • Ability to perform well under pressure

  • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to be innovative and creative

Additional Information:

  • Flexibility during peak closing periods. Overtime is required during month-end closing, especially at year-end.

  • Minimal travel.
