Materials Coordinator (Clerk) Job Description Our Nestlé Purina factory in Dunkirk is strategically located along Lake Erie’s Historic Chadwick Bay Harbor, which is situated 50 miles southwest of Buffalo, New York. With miles of Great Lakes waterfront and beaches, ski resorts, vineyards and boutique wineries, our associates are proud to call Dunkirk a hidden gem. Since its opening in 1971, various expansions to the processing and warehousing towers have taken place to accommodate increasing production of great brands like Pro Plan®, Beggin®, T-Bonz®, and Busy®.
The Materials Coordinator (Clerk) is responsible for managing assigned commodities to ensure 100% availability to meet scheduled production for the factory. The primary areas of focus in this position will be inventory monitoring, ordering/expediting, freight, building internal/external working relationships, and end of month reports.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for inbound ingredient logistics which includes, but is not limited to, the evaluation of lead times, transit times, storage capacities, usage and other items as well as placing ingredient orders directly with suppliers.
  • Responsible for the logistics of rail, truck, bulk frozen and sack ingredients to ensure adequate inventories are on hand for continual plant operations.
  • Prepare ingredient manifolds prior to delivery for receiving department.
  • Requisition requirements with St. Louis Commodity Group on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining contracts to include closing ingredient contracts and maintaining contracts.
  • Responsible for ingredient claims preparation.
  • Conduct weekly inventory reviews, investigate large variances between inventory/SAP.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience (Years/Type):
  • 1+ years of experience in a buyer, procurement, supply chain or logistics related role required
  • Experience with SAP or another ERP related software preferred
