(Archived) IT Solution Partner, Device and Diagnostics R&D

Job Description

Position Summary:

  • This role supports R&D teams responsible for discovery and development of novel Biodevice, Diagnostic and Precision Animal Health solutions supporting animal health. R&D colleagues in these areas engage in a variety of hardware, software, assay and algorithm development activities. The Solution Partner assisting these teams will work to provide and maintain R&D systems that support device development (e.g. CAD, CFD, PLM, Agile, ELN, material inventory, data visualization and analytics and data science platforms). In this role, the successful candidate will:
  • Develop strategic and tactical solutions in support of assigned functional lines (e.g. Biodevices, Diagnostics and Precision Animal Health) as well as across VMRD and Zoetis, where applicable
  • Apply business analysis to gather and refine ideas with estimates for New Demand projects to enable selection, prioritization and execution of projects that align with strategic and tactical priorities
  • Manage project execution to deliver solutions manner to meet established timelines
  • Manage finance components such as contracts, purchase order and accruals associated with projects to ensure projects meet approved budgets and conform to financial/legal requirements
  • Communicate IT-related information to colleagues in assigned functional lines as required
  • Coordinate with ITS Support and Engineering to help resolve tickets that are not covered by standard support queue resources (e.g. Level 3 or 4 tickets)

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise effectively between R&D and IT colleagues by translating both scientific and technical issues in a manner that is accessible to both
  • Consult with both R&D and IT colleagues to accurately estimate project complexity and technical dependencies to define project backlog
  • Lead projects to successful conclusions by actively managing project backlog and sprint execution to meet expected deadlines
  • Demonstrate sufficient understanding of pertinent device and diagnostic technology and software (e.g. Jira, JAMA, SolidWorks, ORCAD, Electronic Component Design) to support R&D colleagues using these applications
  • Build effective project teams by use of active facilitation techniques to build consensus and resolve disputes
  • Perform business analysis to document user requirements and other project deliverables as required to ensure successful delivery
  • Manage contractual and financial project elements
  • Delegate relevant technical and business tasks to the appropriate resources as required

Experience:

  • 5-8+ years in a similar role supporting IT and business collaboration around device development
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (IT, device, scientific field of study)
  • Prior experience implementing and supporting IT systems in a device-focused R&D environment is preferable
  • Prior experience with business analysis associated with device-based projects is preferable
