Job Description

Zoetis seeks a talented individual with experience in maintaining laboratory operations and equipment in support of primary pharmacology, biomarker identification, and protein production. Additionally, this individual should have experience working with sample, supply and facilities management to provide logistical oversight to a group of scientists. This role requires a biology or computer science background, laboratory experience and the desire to meet the holistic needs of the Zoetis Incubator Northern Colorado.

The successful candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant experience with laboratory operations including: establishing/complying with Environmental Health & Safety procedures, basic laboratory automation/networking support, and sample logistics. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.

Please note: This position is for a fixed term of 3.5 years.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience programming, maintaining, networking and trouble-shooting basic laboratory automation including but not limited to multimode plate readers, automated liquid handlers, and other general lab equipment (e.g. plate washers, centrifuges, etc.)
  • Experience with basic laboratory safety procedures and managing compliance with corporate standards.
  • Experience with managing laboratory supplies, including tracking inventory levels and procurement of new supplies.
  • Experience with shipping, receiving, storing, distributing, and tracking small/large molecule samples and biospecimens (blood, plasma, serum, saliva, urine, etc.).
  • Experience with basic facilities operations including communicating with site engineers regarding utility issues, waste management, and site access.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educational background: BS (Biology, Computer Science, or related field).
  • Self-starter, able to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, basic networking/infrastructure.Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, BLAST, Vector NTI or equivalent, protein modeling software (MOE, Rosetta, etc.)

Work environment:

The placement of this position will be primarily in Fort Collins, CO. Occasional travel to R&D headquarters in Kalamazoo, MI may also be requested.

The person filling this position will work predominantly in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms.
