Data Scientist Job Description

As a Statistician, you will apply complex predictive analytics using large data sets to support continuous improvement, decision-making, and operational effectiveness across the supply chain. You will develop and enhance statistical forecasting models for the manufacturing plants and customer accounts. Additionally, you will focus on improving forecast accuracy, reducing forecast bias, and increasing customer fulfillment.

Primary Responsibilities
Use a variety of statistical techniques to develop and improve predictive models.
Revise and enhance forecast models by analyzing predictions vs. actual demand patterns.
Investigate and implement innovative solutions to predict demand at multiple product and customer hierarchies.
Apply statistical, unsupervised/supervised learning, optimization, and visualization techniques in order to understand, describe, and predict patterns in data.
Automate data acquisition, preparation, modeling, and visualization in order to streamline and simplify data science operations/process.
Help business partners identify opportunities and problems that can be address through data science solutions.
Combine various data inputs (shipment, order, POS, and promotional data) from external sources (sales, marketing, ops planning, customer facing, etc.) to predict customer demand.

Preforms all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (statistics, analytics, mathematics, or related field) and +1 year experience solving business problems with advanced quantitative analysis and application of scientific method/thinking.
Doctorate in a quantitative field (statistics, analytics, mathematics, or related field).

Experience (Years/Type):
1+ years of experience with SAS, R, Python or similar programming language.
