Job Description

Zoetis is seeking a talented and experienced scientific researcher to contribute to our efforts at the research incubator, Global Therapeutics Research in Fort Collins, CO. This individual will partner with project teams to develop and functionally characterize cell lines used to build a basic understanding of disease targets, pathways, and therapeutic mechanisms of action in addition to contributing to novel therapeutic platform development.

The successful candidate should have knowledge of molecular and cell biology aspects of functional cell line development from vector design/construction, gene editing, cell culture maintenance and transient transfections, clone screening, and functional characterization through protein assays. Experience with and understanding of immune cells, antibody function and CRISPR is highly desired. Working knowledge of methodologies to generate and grow hybridomas is a plus. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. Some travel required.

Please note: This position is for a fixed term of 3.5 years.

  • Design expression vectors/plasmids
  • Generation and evaluation of reporter cell lines and/or knock out/knock in lines for pre-clinical development programs (genomic editing techniques such as CRISPR and/or shRNa)
  • Mammalian expression of proteins in transient systems (HEK/CHO)
  • Design and develop fit-for-purpose assays including molecular assays, immunoassays, high-sensitivity immunoassays for characterizing cell lines and developing biomarkers.
  • Develop novel strategies for improving speed of cell line development and implement improvements to existing platform technologies.
  • Collaborate across multiple scientific disciplines to understand mechanistic biology a
  • Directly communicate with external partners for collaborations and outsourcing.
  • Design fit-for-purpose quantitative metabolite assays and perform metabolite extractions to support mass spectrometric analyses.

  • Experience with genomic or genome editing approaches to assess gene function (CRISPR and/or shRNA)
  • Deep knowledge of designing and developing immunoassays and optimizing methods and reagents for cellular readouts and protein characterization.
  • High proficiency in cellular screening, experience with laboratory automation is a plus.
  • Experience with hybridoma fusion technology is a plus.

• Experience in designing and developing diagnostic assays is highly preferred.

  • Experience working with primary immune cells such as T cells, NK cells.
