Title: ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST/SENIOR ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST (Fixed Term: 3 Years)

Location: Kalamazoo, MI

Zoetis is seeking a talented in-vivo research technician to contribute to our efforts in Global Therapeutics Research at Zoetis. The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to follow and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) associated with laboratory procedures and study protocols.
  • Perform study related activities including record keeping, data acquisition and analysis, sample handling and preparation, clinical observations, dosing, animal handling and necropsy.
  • Exposure to good laboratory techniques (i.e. pipetting) and data management including computer skills (i.e. excel, word)
  • Provides communication with and assistance to researcher, technicians, and manager.
  • Rodent or small animal experience
  • Must have knowledge, comfort, and competence working with in a research setting (*Preferably dosing (IV, SQ, IM) and blood sampling)
  • Willingness to learn and acknowledge animal behaviors
  • Competence analyzing data and ability to recognize normal or invalid output
  • Understands the biomedical necessity of laboratory animal research and endpoints.

A degree in science related field desired but not required; High School diploma plus two years relevant animal experience or education combined. The selected candidate will be expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage time and adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.

Please note: This position is for a fixed term of 3 years.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support study related activities including record keeping, sample handling, and animal handling
  • Understanding of Animal Use Protocol’s
  • Compliance with all SOP’s and training

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educational background: High School diploma pus 2 years relevant in-vivo experience, Associates in Animal Sciences, BS. in Biology, Animal Sciences or related fields.
  • Training or experience in biological sample collection, processing, and pipetting.
  • Exposure to Animal Use Protocols
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
