Description

The Alltech® Feed Division is among the leading commercial animal nutrition companies in North America. We employ more than 700 people in the areas of manufacturing, sales, and marketing. We offer a full range of animal nutrition products designed to meet the diverse needs of modern livestock and companion animals, including complete feeds, premixes, feed supplements, block supplements, animal health products and feed ingredients. We are seeking candidates for a full time Accounting Specialist to join our Mankato Regional Office staff.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Underwrite and approve the extension of credit within established limits and credit policy
  • Initiate collection and recovery efforts on past due and over limit accounts in accordance with credit terms and established credit policy
  • Process and review all feed orders and feed shipment releases for any customers who are either delinquent or over their assigned credit limit. Approve or hold feed shipments based upon the best information at hand and/or obtained from either the field sales or plant staff
  • Maintain existing customer credit balances within prescribed credit terms and credit limits. Ensure collection of customer accounts in accordance with credit terms. Minimize past due and over limit accounts without adversely affecting sales and profitability. Initiate appropriate collection and recovery actions utilizing sound credit and collection standards and per established policy
  • Thoroughly investigate and underwrite new open account requests in accordance with sound credit underwriting standards and per credit policy. Make appropriate credit decisions utilizing rigorous and thorough financial analysis. Establish appropriate credit limits and credit terms for open account customers. Communicate credit decisions with the customers, dealers, and necessary personnel in a timely manner
  • Post lockbox and wire payment journals from our bank daily and investigate any payment application discrepancies
  • Maintain prepayment balance statements for each customer, send monthly statements, and communicate when their balance is depleted
  • Perform month close procedures to ensure Accounts Receivable is accurately closed each month
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years’ experience in finance
  • Solid computer skills
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
