Purina has a proud presence in this mile-high city, having been in operation since 1930. Its first 42 years in operation were primarily to produce livestock feed until the plant transitioned into a pet food-only manufacturer in 1972. Since then, the location became the first-ever pet food factory to utilize solar energy. To date, we’re proud to sustainably produce 260,134 tons annually of Dog Chow®, Cat Chow®, Kit n Kaboodle®, Alpo®, Beneful®, Purina ONE Beyond®, Purina ONE® and Pro Plan®.

As a Safety Clerk, you will provide professional customer oriented, high quality services related to greeting visitors, and support to the Safety Department and Denver Factory. You will also develop, control, and maintain the plant’s communication systems and have daily interface with employees and outside customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all responsibilities associated with staffing main guest/visitor entrance i.e. answering phones, maintain and update sign-in forms for Factory.
  • Create forms for guard house, i.e. Truck logs, contractors, temporary employees, visitor, cleaning, file according to company guidelines. Make copies as requested.
  • Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail. Coordinate visitor activity. Communicate & Provide Safety PPE, appropriate paperwork and badges for all visitors. Contact employee to escort visitor to working area.
  • Assist Safety Coordinator in setting up Safety Meetings (Safety Committee, PEO, Blitz etc.) and issue make-ups Safety Committee and PEO meetings.
  • Tracks meeting and training attendance into I-learn or appropriate tracking sheets; including but not limited to Safety Committee, makeups, Risk Predictions, Shift Safety Talks, other safety documents and trainings as needed.
  • Audits and organizes all PTW and Risk Predictions. Communicates with submitter and Safety department of all deficiencies.
  • Assists in auditing the Safety Department to ensure we are meeting compliance calendar.
  • Conduct daily observations in various areas as assigned throughout the plant. Select and pinpoint safe and unsafe behaviors and provide feedback and reinforcement.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • 1+ years' administrative experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, military or related environment.

This position has a starting salary of $20.00 an hour.
