Job Description

  • Direct and prioritize tasks to ensure that tests and records are completed in an accurate and timely manner providing reliable results. Thus ensuring timely product delivery.
  • Maintain laboratory procedures, correcting potential problems, to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Ensure that safety and quality standards are followed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Supervise workgroup/technicians’ activities.
  • Problem solve all aspects of testing.
  • Audit/review bench records.
  • Author/review Standard Operating Procedures/Standard Methods.
  • Inform QC management of testing issues (i.e. no tests, unsatisfactory results)
  • Ensure that testing completed is properly documented and follows written methods.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper training of Quality Control technicians.
  • Effective and timely management of employee relations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Continuously develop direct reports to build a strong team and site. This includes the use of performance management tools, direct feedback, and open communication.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS with 2-4 years of experience OR MBA/MS with 0-2 years of experience OR Minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
  • Understanding of USDA & EU guidelines. Ability to ensure compliance with changing guidelines.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems and implement corrective action.
  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and team/group interactive and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of equipment used by technicians.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, develop, and motivate individuals and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with all levels of colleagues including senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results.
  • Extensive knowledge and capabilities with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
