Position Summary:
The Head of Digital Product Architecture will lead and grow a team of Digital Product Architects responsible for platform, database, and integration architecture for on-market, in-development, and future customer-facing applications and services. The Digital Products team is part of a fast-growing Digital Data & Analytics (DDA) team within the Zoetis Tech & Digital (ZTD) organization.
Responsibilities of Head of Digital Product Architecture:
- Collaborate with Digital Product team leads to align on product-specific requirements and allocate architect resources as needed
- Collaborate with Data & Analytic Engineering (DAE) team leads to align on data integration strategies
- Collaborate with ZTD partner teams, including enterprise architecture, global infrastructure, information security, and compliance, to deliver appropriate architecture guidelines for product teams
- Effectively manage roadmaps for multiple concurrent product-specific workstreams as well as cross-product platform projects
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a team of software architects
Responsibilities of Digital Product Architect Team:
- Develop and support integrations with external systems, such as veterinary practice information management systems and herd management systems
- Develop and support IoT-based solutions to enable remote device management and data collection
- Develop and implement database standards in collaboration with DAE team
- Develop and support cloud and mobile deployment platform standards, in collaboration with other ZTD teams
Education and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years in software architecture or software development of digital products and services
- 5+ years of experience in managing technical teams
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong leadership skills, strong written and verbal communications in English, ability to communicate well with technical, business, and support teams in multiple locations
- Proficiency and experience with database design, database optimization, SQL, and programming languages
- Experience with deploying and managing cloud hosting platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience designing and documenting web-based public APIs
- Experience with multiple web/mobile software development stacks as well as various software development lifecycles
- Understanding of the role of digital tools and services in animal health or human health industries
