Pilot Plant Technician Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:This position is responsible for assisting with organizing and performing pilot plant trials and associated support work under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Organize and prepare formulations, as per NesTMS requirements, and perform pilot plant trials in a safe and efficient manner2. Set-up, operate and clean food-processing equipment3. Maintain equipment in good sanitary and working condition4. Maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work area5. Organize and record data as outlined in the pilot plant request6. Prepare summaries of trial results with recommendations for processing/product improvements based on observations7. Working skills/knowledge of equipment and unit operations in the pilot plant8. Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, Good Laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GLP & GMP)9. Travel as required for factory trials, factory start-ups or training10. Practice safety in the work area ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Light mechanical repair/plumbing as required• Interact with project teams and participate in project discussions as required • Actively participate in cross-training as needed as well as learning new skills required due to technology advances• Reviews/Updates SOP’s and SSOP’s• Additional duties as assigned
SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED: Receives supervision from the Pilot Plant Supervisor

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge): High School Diploma (or GED) • Working knowledge of factory type equipment operations• Willingness to become a licensed fork lift operator• Good mechanical skills or aptitude• Good teamwork, interpersonal, communication, organization, math and writing skills• Computer literacy
