Job Description


The Global Diagnostics (“GDX”) Operations and Commercial Initiatives Lead reports into the Senior Vice President and Head of Global Diagnostics and is member of the GDX Leadership team. The Lead Collaborates with the GDX Leadership team by ensuring dialogue and information flows are transparent and sustained and provides thought leadership related to business strategy development. Specifically, this includes the following:

Commercial Strategy
• Drives strategic initiatives and supports the development of long-term growth plans and profitability goals.
• Analyzes and recommends emerging industry trends, go-to-market strategies, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, internal business performance and business process improvement.
• Analyzes and makes recommendations based on emerging industry trends.
• Represents GDX for expansion opportunities (including mergers and acquisitions) in Global Business Development and Commercial Development discussions.
• Responsible for overseeing organizational reviews and developing strategies based on analysis of those.
• Leads development of the GDX Operating Plan and budget roll up, including and partnering with Finance and Human Resources in tracking headcount and associated expenses
• Resolves escalated issues arising from operations requiring coordination with other departments.

Operations
• Coordinates and establishes the agenda for the regularly scheduled forums with the GDX Leadership team as well as with the other parts of the business including US and International markets, addressing high- level strategic and operational decisions.
• Rolls up results and key performance metrics across all markets
• Coordinates follow-up discussions and execution activities on an as-needed basis.
• Facilitates coordination and drives alignment in efforts between the US commercial business, International commercial business (clusters and markets) and adjacent global businesses. Is operational link between GDX functions and Business Operations by enabling and support GDX with analysis focused on the critical few for success to make decisions to exceed budget goals and business/market(s) growth rate.
• Utilizes the best dashboard and/or business analytics platform to remain relevant and consistently utilize this information across GDX to execute against primary business opportunities.
• Provides high-level support in the decision-making process with respect to ongoing operational matters and larger projects, including, but not limited to, new product introductions, identification of growth markets, and review of distribution models in certain markets.
• Serves as liaison between GDX and other Commercial Leaders
• Enables open dialogue, information flow and foster transparent and constant communication between platform leaders
• Provides high-level support in the decision-making process with respect to new product introductions and launches, identification of growth markets, and review of distribution models in certain markets.
• Stays abreast of major business developments, organizational changes, and initiatives
affecting and undertaken by Commercial business which can impact GDX.

Organizational Relationships
• All members of the GDX Leadership Team
• US Commercial business leadership team members and their leadership teams, International Commercial business leadership team, Cluster Leaders and Country General Managers

Education and Experience Requirements
• Undergraduate degree (BS/BA)
• 7+ years proven record of accomplishments including successful sales, marketing and/or technical services management and strategy execution experience
• Experience working in or supporting International markets is a plus
• Animal health experience and knowledge of both companion animal and livestock veterinary medicine preferred

Skills and Capabilities
• Consistently proven track record in previous roles including managing talent, executing designated initiatives, and creatively finding opportunities or solving problems to drive sales performance
• Extensive knowledge of Zoetis products and the animal health industry or ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team-based environment, align with and influence internal and external stakeholders, and build / manage relationships at all levels of an organization.
• Adept at working in highly fluid, complex, and ever-changing environments.
• Drives strategy from insight and analytics to tactical execution and measures the results.
• Project / process management
• Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and make thoughtful / fair decisions based on relevant information
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, PP, and ability to learn Zoetis systems)
• Headquarters and cross-functional experience a plus (e.g., product marketing, new product marketing, business development).
• Ability to interact with and influence Senior Management, peers and other functions
• Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills, business acumen and attention to detail
Travel: Ability and willingness to travel overnight approximately at least 30-40% of the time to include some weekends
