Operations & Start-Up Leader (Maintenance) Job Description For more than 100 years, Purina has been revolutionizing pet food production, and its ability to enrich the lives of pets everywhere. The Operations and Start-Up Leader will play a key role in managing capital projects and initiatives to meet business, schedule and budget objectives. This position will focus on the operational side of these projects– including the evaluation and implementation of all business processes, equipment, systems and technology, job roles and organization structures. A key aspect of this role will be consistent collaboration with both internal and external partners including but not limited to our Nestle Purina Product Technology Center (PTC), Nestle Purina Support Center (NPSC), Technical Applications Group (TAG), Quality Assurance (QA), Safety, Human Resources, Factory Operations, Factory Management, Engineering, Digital Manufacturing Information Technology (IT at Nestle) and external contractors and vendors (OEMs). As the Operations & Start-Up Leader for Maintenance, you will be responsible for the implementation of maintenance plans and execution of maintenance strategies. You will focus on planning and scheduling key strategic resources as well as build budgeting and maintenance foundations. You will also get to work with other divisions as needed to develop cohesive and cross-functional teams and processes.

  • Outline early implementation of preventative maintenance program
  • Define maintenance procedures and maintenance staffing
  • Develop maintenance plan including:
    • Spare part availability and methodology
    • Integrate preventative maintenance program with concurrent start-up activities
    • Develop storeroom functions
  • Work with other Operations Start-Up Leaders to ensure employees are trained
  • Set up technical store with critical parts before commissioning

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment and 2+ years of supervisory experience


  • Engineering degree with 3+ years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment and 2+ years of supervisory experience
