Job Description

ROLE DECRIPTION:

Zoetis Reference Laboratories (ZRL) is currently seeking a full-time Anatomic Pathologist to oversee the Anatomic Pathology service for the national ZRL network of laboratories across the US. Zoetis Reference Labs is a new division of Zoetis Global Diagnostics and currently includes legacy Phoenix, ZNLabs, and Ethos laboratories.

Responsibilities of this role will include oversight of the national Anatomic Pathology service, including supervision of diagnostic Anatomic Pathologists. The successful applicant will be a member of the Zoetis Global Diagnostics Medical leadership team as well as the ZRL leadership team. Some interpretation of histopathology samples and consultation with veterinarian clients is also expected.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Overseeing the Anatomic Pathology service and ensuring that veterinarian clients reliably receive high quality results as it relates to anatomic pathology samples and consultations.
  • Development of the diagnostic anatomic pathology team, including recruitment and hiring, periodic performance evaluation, professional development, engagement in the clinical service, and ensuring job satisfaction
  • Fostering a positive, collaborative relationship within the diagnostic anatomic pathology team and between clinical pathologists and other ZRL colleagues
  • Facilitating opportunities for continuing education, mentorship, and participation in laboratory improvement initiatives or other projects, as appropriate
  • Keeping diagnostic Anatomic Pathologists updated on new developments relevant to diagnostic service
  • Supporting standardization of equipment and processes relevant to the Histopathology processing team and Anatomic Pathology service and ensuring that all quality standards are met
  • Identifying and implementing ways to improve the service and/or resolve problems
  • Liaising between diagnostic Anatomic Pathologists and other leadership teams
  • Balancing diagnostic anatomic pathology duties with those of an administrator
  • Participating in and contributing to the quality assurance program, including innovations in Anatomic Pathology
  • Supervising and assisting in training the laboratory technicians/assistants
  • Participating in continuing education programs for our clients, in the lab or in clinic, or at larger conferences, if desired

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • DVM (or equivalent); ACVP Certified
  • DVM/VMD degree
