Job Description
Position Summary
The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, directing, leading and ensuring compliance of all aspects of the Training Program for Lincoln Operations (Lincoln, NE and Whitehall, IL manufacturing sites). The position of Training Specialist will act as the Domain Administrator and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Learning Management System (LMS) and provide support to all learners and lower level administrators of the LMS for Lincoln Operations. The Training Specialist is also responsible for complying with Zoetis’ global training policies and ensuring compliance to regulatory agencies with regards to training requirements.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and lead site training system and procedures to assure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Dotted line responsibility for departmental Training Coordinators responsible for creating, updating and delivering instructor-led, on-the-job and computer-based training to colleagues at Lincoln Operations
- Direct the Training Program for all departments at both Lincoln, NE and Whitehall, IL sites including Biological and Pharmaceutical Operations, Quality Operations, Quality Control Laboratories, Engineering, Maintenance and Utilities, Supply Chain, Global Manufacturing Technology, Procurement, etc.
- Oversee the Aseptic Training Program for Biological Manufacturing (Viral Operations, Monoclonal Antibody Operations, Bacterial Operations, Central Core, Assembly, Filling/Lyophilization/Capping and Central Services)
- Responsible for the more than 850 Lincoln, NE and Whitehall, IL Site Area Curricula (SAC), Business Area Curricula (BAC), Job Function Curricula (JFC), Job Task Curricula (JTC) and Supporting Curricula (SPC)
- Utilize expertise to ensure instructional design techniques and principles are applied to support GMP, job skills and procedural training
- Deliver learning solutions in a manner that engages the learner and produces desired outcomes
- Collaborate with Managers/Team Leaders to develop and assure job function curricula are in place for all employees
- Set annual Training metrics for Lincoln Operations, monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, success and ROI periodically and report performance to leadership
- Measure and evaluate learning experiences to determine the impact of learning and performance solutions
- Partner with site leadership to analyze business needs to develop relevant metrics to monitor effectiveness of the technical learning plan
- Participate in and provide trending and guidance for Human Error deviations
- Develop, coach and monitor training personnel
- Communicate with auditors and inspectors to represent and explain the Training Quality System
- Oversee, plan and conduct New Colleague Orientation for new hires
- Research new training materials and supplies that might enhance training procedures and provide value to our employees
- Identify opportunities for future training needs and create curriculum to facilitate that training
- Search for gaps in training material or content that should be filled to ensure safety, compliance and productivity among employees
- Maintain training budget to support key technical and GMP programs and methodologies and well as site training facility and equipment needs
- Communicate with team members, trainers and management to ensure all training needs are met
- Set and implement training objectives for departmental trainers
Serve as Domain Administrator for the Learning Management System (LMS) for Lincoln Operations
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in a Science or Learning and Development or other related degree
- 5-10 years related experience in Global Manufacturing and Supply with an emphasis in Training
- 2-4 years relevant experience in leading a Training Program
- Familiarity with the LMS and training-related regulatory requirements
Preferred
- Relevant advanced degree in Learning and Development with 3-6 years of experience
- >4 years or relevant experience in leading a Training Program in the Animal Health/Pharmaceutical industry.
- Success Factors Expert (SFx) Accreditation in the LMS with >8 years’ experience as a high level LMS administrator
Qualifications
- Understanding of the Training Program
- >5 years as a Departmental Trainer with excellent training and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and program development
- Domain Administrator in the LMS with extensive knowledge in LMS reporting functions
Technical Skills and Competencies Required
- Excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral) required to interface across departments, sites and management levels
- Understands all aspects of the LMS and how it affects the learners’ training experience
- Strong organizational skills with proven experience in multi-tasking and prioritizing projects
- Process and detail-orientated with the ability to follow complex processes and prepare detailed structured documents
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and reach targeted conclusions
- Proven ability to operate in an independent manner, manage multiple projects at one time and motivate and influence others
- Proven ability in performing and training others on aseptic technique
- Knowledge of USDA, EU and FDA requirements of a biological and pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
- High level of understanding and strong technical knowledge of Learning Management System with SFX Accreditation
- Proficient in eLearning Software, SharePoint and PowerPoint, Excel and Word Microsoft applications

- Some off-site travel
- This position requires sitting, standing, and walking with occasional overtime/weekend work.
