Job Description

Position Summary:

Support the implementation of new and revised genetic testing products and services into production. Work with cross-functional teams consisting of business leaders, scientists and computer technologists, to understand the commercial objectives and translate the requisite data management functions into requirements for development, testing, and implementation. Must be able to work with business stakeholders (internal and external) to review and refine requirements including the development of prototypes and mocks outside production environments. Hold primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with established protocols for product implementation and actively intervenes where necessary to establish and maintain continuity in defined processes. Collect and analyze available data to ensure required information is complete and internally consistent. Require experience in desktop manipulation of large, and sometimes complex, datasets. Expertise in database design, optimization, querying, and life cycle management and development will be critical. Prepare documentation and technical specifications for the business and technical team. Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic work environment managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects. The successful candidate is able to balance the need for collaboration and project leadership with independent effort to ensure timely delivery of business needs. Provide support to Information Technology, Quality and Product Delivery teams in troubleshooting and investigations to ensure business continuity and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development and maintenance of information systems to support the translation of genomic data into consolidated outcomes for Zoetis customers
  • Understand the commercial objectives, requirements, workflows, and key deliverables for new or revised genetic testing products and services
  • Prepare business documentation describing key usage, workflow and process details for new or revised genetic testing products and services
  • Perform quality checks on available data to ensure completeness and internal consistency
  • Maintain accurate logs of pending and completed projects to support accurate prioritization of effort
  • Actively manage pending requests and reprioritization of projects in queue in consultation with department-level and business leadership as business needs evolve globally
  • Provide guidance to technical team regarding how assembled resources are to be used to create reports and data exchange files for use with customers and strategic partners

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years business analyst experience covering requirements gathering through to solution delivery
  • 3+ years of software development and database query experience with thorough understanding of SDLCs
  • Experience with relevant software and development tools (i.e., MS Project, Visio, UI Mocking, .NET, SQL, GIT, Java)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, give direction to multiple technical resources (internal and external) and bring projects to successful completion
  • Excellent data management skills including use of common software (e.g., MS Excel and MS Access)
  • Experience in test driven design (TDD) and associated quality assurance principles
  • Strong communication skills enabling interactions with a very broad range of stakeholders ranging from those with little knowledge of information systems though to programmers that may have little knowledge of the business
  • Ability to work across time zones in support of global business units and development teams
  • Organized and dependable with high level of accountability
  • Work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment; comfortable making constructive contributions in settings with diverse personalities and technical levels
  • Using initiative and taking ownership in proactively working to ensure complete and high-quality deliverables
  • Comfortable in a rapidly changing environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to progress assigned and emergent tasks to completion with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving objectives in a manner that is supportive of Zoetis values

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Understanding of laboratory processes
  • Knowledge of animal genetics
  • Use, administration, and configuration of LabWare LIMS
